Tuesday, September 25: Slept late to make up for late nights over the weekend and hard riding yesterday. Lazed about and got some things out of the way.

Wednesday, September 26: Cleaned up around the house then to town to do some last minute e-mail before riding to Dearborn to visit Mike Daronco. On the road to Dearborn it started raining pretty hard, which coupled with rush hour traffic, large eighteen-wheelers and a narrow shoulder forced us off the road and we then got picked up Mike who was going into Ann Arbor anyway that day to do some shopping. We ate dinner at a nice pub and finally got to Dearborn where I read a few comics and went to bed. Total miles ~ 20.

Thursday, September 27: Trying to get to Canada. Left in the morning and rode to the Ambassador Bridge, which we knew wouldn't let bikes ride across but we heard rumors of shuttles. That didn't pan out and after getting yelled at by bridge workers for trying to hitchhike on thier premises we decided to try and cross at the tunnel, even though we'd heard nothing but trouble would come of that. The bus that just runs back and forth from Windsor to Detroit hundreds of times a day stopped as we were rolling in, the driver asked how many bikes there were and satisfied that two was a low enough number to allow inside the bus, we hoisted our bikes up and in, locked 'em down and were in the ever civilized nation of Canada within ten minutes. Kept riding and made it to Comber for a great dinner at Bubba's, then camped in a nature preserve which also seemed to be a hot spot for the local youths' marginally legal chemical imbibations. Slept under an apple tree. Total miles ~50.

Friday, Sept 28: Dealing with a headwind all day, we still managed to ride from Comber to Clearville where we camped off the lake and it was glorious. Had ice cream for dinner. I had cherry and Marty had butterscotch. Total miles ~47.

Saturday, Sept. 29: Rode from the lake back up to 3 and headed east through St. Thomas to just past Aylmer where we asked for permission to camp on the grounds of the Evangelical Mennonite Mission Church of Aylmer and were graciously allowed. Met the minister and many members of the church that night as they were preparing for the morning's services. Camped out back, despite the generous offer of a real roof at the minister's house. Total miles ~50.<\p>

Sunday, Sept. 30: While drying off our camping gear and me cleaning my gears we stayed in the back of the church long enough to where it made sense to go to the service where we were accepted into the church and met with a really positive response. After much encouragement and an invitation to eat with the deacon fellowship lunch which we accepted, we reluctantly left Aylmer and rode hard to Simcoe for the best chinese dinner of my life and an overpriced motel room. Total miles ~38.

Monday, October 1: After nearly a week of headwinds, we finally caught some of the famous "westerlies" and rode an easy seventy-five miles to Niagara. Left Simcoe around 11:30 after getting our bikes looked at and a healthy breakfast at a roadside truckstop and arrived in Niagara before 6PM. Niagara was breathtaking and eventually we started to look for a spiritual center where Marty once read poetry. Eventually we found the Loretto Christian Life Center and under the auspices of our protector Juan, we ran into Sister Yvonne and then Sister Marriana who allowed us to spend the night as guests. It was amazing and the conversation with Juan was worth every wrong turn trying to find the center in the first place. Total miles >75
